On display are many specimens of petrified wood, a selection of NZ minerals and gemstones along with a special feature of native ores.

There are Volcanic Rocks, including ash and rocks from the eruption of Mount Ruapehu 1995-96.

A hands on display of weight comparison between gas-rich and non-gaseous lava.
